Tracking Typhoons

Typhoon Bavi intensified into a super typhoon this afternoon. It now sustains wind speeds of 62 meters per second, equivalent to Category 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale. It may impact coastal areas of southeast China later, so stay alert and take precautions!

Typhoon Sinlaku became the first Super typhoon this year! According to CMA data, its intensity increases violently (from 18m/s to 68m/s in just 1 day), due to low wind sheer and high ocean temperature. Previously, the strongest typhoon in April is typhoon Surigae in 2021 (68m/s, 905hpa). Now, CMA gives Sinlaku the same intensity as Surigae.
